Governance in Tornado Cash Official
Tornado Cash Official is governed by a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) using the TORN token. This page explains the governance process and how to participate.
What is the DAO?
The Tornado Cash Official DAO is a community-driven organization that manages protocol upgrades, pool configurations, and other decisions. TORN token holders propose and vote on changes to ensure the protocol remains secure and private.
Governance Process
- Proposal Creation: Any TORN holder can submit a proposal via the governance portal.
- Discussion: The community discusses proposals on Telegram or other channels.
- Voting: TORN holders vote on-chain, with voting power proportional to their token holdings.
- Execution: Approved proposals are implemented by the DAO’s smart contracts.
Types of Proposals
- Protocol Upgrades: Changes to smart contracts or zk-SNARKs.
- Pool Configurations: Adding new pools or adjusting denominations.
- Relayer Policies: Rules for relayers.
- Community Rewards: Distributing TORN for contributions or bug bounties.
Note: Governance is transparent but requires secure handling of TORN tokens. Use a trusted wallet like MetaMask.
